Some people believe that teenagers today have more stressful lives than teenagers in the past. In this essay, I will discuss this view and give my own opinion.

There are several reasons why teenagers today may feel more stressed. Firstly, they have a lot of pressure from school. In many countries, students have to study many subjects, do a lot of homework and take many exams. They also have to compete with other students to get into a good university. For example, in Korea and Vietnam, many students study at school and then go to extra classes until late at night. Secondly, social media causes a lot of stress for teenagers. They often compare themselves with other people on Instagram or Facebook, and they feel that their life is not as good as other people's lives. Some teenagers are also bullied online. Thirdly, it is more difficult to find a good job today, so teenagers worry about their future.

However, some people think that teenagers in the past also had stressful lives. In the past, many teenagers had to leave school early to work and help their family. Some of them lived in poverty or during wars, so their lives were very hard. Today, most teenagers have better living conditions, more opportunities to study and more support from their parents.

In my opinion, teenagers today have different kinds of stress from teenagers in the past. However, I think that they have more mental stress because of school pressure and social media.

In conclusion, although teenagers in the past also faced difficulties, I agree that teenagers today have more stressful lives, mainly because of pressure from school and social media.

It is often claimed that teenagers today experience more stress than previous generations. While the lives of young people in the past were certainly not free of hardship, I agree that today's teenagers face unique and intense forms of pressure.

There are several reasons why modern teenagers may experience high levels of stress. Academic pressure has increased significantly in many countries, as competition for university places and well-paid jobs has intensified. Many students spend long hours studying, attending extra classes and preparing for high-stakes exams, leaving little time for rest or leisure. In addition, social media has introduced a new source of anxiety. Teenagers are constantly exposed to idealised images of their peers' lives, which can lead to unfavourable comparisons, low self-esteem and fear of missing out. Cyberbullying also means that young people can be targeted at any time, even at home. Furthermore, many teenagers are worried about their future, given rising housing costs, job insecurity and global issues such as climate change.

On the other hand, it could be argued that previous generations faced greater difficulties. Many young people in the past had to leave school early to work, lived in poverty or experienced war and political instability. Compared with these hardships, today's teenagers generally enjoy better living standards, healthcare and educational opportunities.
