Nowadays, more and more people travel to other countries for holidays and work. Some people think that this increase in international travel is bad for the environment and it should be limited. I partly agree with this opinion.

On the one hand, I agree that international travel has a negative impact on the environment. Most international trips are made by plane, and planes produce a lot of carbon dioxide, which causes global warming. In addition, when many tourists visit a place, they create a lot of rubbish and use a lot of water and energy. For example, some beautiful beaches in Thailand had to close because too many tourists damaged the coral and the beach. Moreover, new hotels and airports are built in natural areas, and this destroys forests and the homes of animals.

On the other hand, I do not think that international travel should be strongly restricted. Firstly, tourism is very important for the economy of many countries, especially poor countries. Many people work in hotels, restaurants and travel companies, so if travel is restricted, they may lose their jobs. Secondly, travelling helps people learn about other cultures and become more open-minded. It is also important for business, because companies need to meet partners in other countries.

In my opinion, instead of restricting travel, governments should find ways to make travel more environmentally friendly. For example, they can put a tax on flights and use the money to protect the environment, and they can limit the number of tourists in some sensitive places.

In conclusion, I agree that international travel harms the environment, but I do not think it should be restricted too much, because it brings many benefits.

With the rapid growth of international travel, some people argue that its environmental impact is so damaging that it should be restricted. Although I agree that the environmental costs are significant, I believe that strict restrictions would be neither practical nor desirable.

There is no doubt that international travel harms the environment. Aviation is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, and a single long-haul flight can produce more carbon dioxide per passenger than many people in developing countries emit in a year. Mass tourism also puts enormous pressure on fragile ecosystems. Popular destinations such as coral reefs, national parks and small islands suffer from pollution, habitat destruction and excessive consumption of water and energy. In some cases, such as Maya Bay in Thailand, authorities have had to close sites temporarily to allow nature to recover.

However, imposing broad restrictions on travel would have serious drawbacks. Tourism is a vital source of income and employment for many countries, particularly developing ones, and limiting it could cause widespread economic hardship. International travel is also essential for business, education and family connections, and it promotes cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Moreover, restricting travel would affect poorer people most, as wealthier individuals would still be able to afford to fly.
