Some people believe that modern technology is creating a single world culture. I partly agree with this statement, because technology is making cultures around the world more similar, but I do not think that local cultures will disappear completely.
On the one hand, it is true that technology is making people around the world more similar. Firstly, through the internet, television and social media, people everywhere watch the same films, listen to the same music and follow the same celebrities. For example, young people in Vietnam, Brazil and Germany all watch Hollywood movies, listen to K-pop and use apps like TikTok and Facebook. Secondly, many people around the world now wear similar clothes, eat at the same fast food restaurants, such as McDonald's and KFC, and buy the same brands. Thirdly, English is becoming a global language because it is used on the internet, so many people around the world learn it.
On the other hand, I believe that local cultures are still strong. Technology also helps people to protect and share their own culture. For example, people can use YouTube and social media to share traditional music, cooking, festivals and languages with the world. In addition, many countries still celebrate their traditional festivals, eat their own traditional food and speak their own language at home. For example, in Vietnam, the Lunar New Year is still the most important festival, and people still follow many traditional customs. Moreover, many people are proud of their culture and want to protect it.
In my opinion, technology is creating some shared global culture, especially among young people, but it is not replacing local cultures completely.
In conclusion, I partly agree that modern technology is creating a single world culture. Cultures are becoming more similar, but each country still has its own unique culture.
