Vietnam has many beautiful and interesting places to visit, such as Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. However, if a foreign visitor has only one day in my country, I think they should visit Hanoi, the capital city. In this essay, I will explain why.
Firstly, Hanoi has a long history and many famous historical places. The visitor can go to the Temple of Literature, which was Vietnam's first university and is almost 1,000 years old. They can also visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the One Pillar Pagoda. These places will help the visitor to learn about the history and culture of Vietnam in a short time. Moreover, many of these places are close to each other, so the visitor can see a lot in one day.
Secondly, Hanoi is famous for its delicious food. The visitor can try many traditional Vietnamese dishes, such as pho, bun cha and banh mi, which are cheap and tasty. They can also drink egg coffee, which is a special drink of Hanoi. For example, many foreign tourists say that eating street food in Hanoi is one of the best experiences of their trip.
Thirdly, the visitor can experience the daily life of Vietnamese people. In the Old Quarter, there are many small streets full of shops, markets, motorbikes and street vendors. In the early morning, they can walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and see local people doing exercise, such as jogging, dancing and tai chi. In the evening, they can watch a water puppet show, which is a traditional art of Vietnam.
In conclusion, if a foreign visitor has only one day in Vietnam, I believe they should visit Hanoi, because they can learn about history, enjoy delicious food and experience local life in one place.
