Some people believe that governments should make more effort to promote alternative sources of energy, such as solar, wind and water power. I strongly agree with this opinion.
Firstly, traditional energy sources like coal, oil and gas cause serious pollution. When they are burned, they produce a lot of carbon dioxide and other harmful gases. This causes global warming, which leads to extreme weather such as floods, storms and droughts. It also causes air pollution, which is bad for people's health. Alternative energy sources such as solar and wind power are clean, so they do not pollute the environment.
Secondly, fossil fuels will run out in the future, because the amount of coal, oil and gas on Earth is limited. In contrast, solar, wind and water energy are renewable, so they will never run out. If governments start to develop alternative energy now, countries will have enough energy in the future.
Thirdly, alternative energy can help countries to save money and create jobs. Many countries have to buy oil and gas from other countries, which is expensive. If they produce their own clean energy, they can save money and depend less on other countries. In addition, building solar and wind farms creates many new jobs.
However, alternative energy is sometimes expensive to set up, and it does not always produce energy, for example when there is no sun or wind. Therefore, governments need to invest money in research and give support to companies and families who use clean energy.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that governments should do more to promote alternative energy, because it is clean, renewable and good for the economy.
