Some people think that companies should encourage employees in senior positions to leave at the age of 55, so that young people can have more opportunities. I disagree with this opinion, although I understand why some people support it.
On the one hand, there are some reasons to support this idea. Firstly, if older managers leave their jobs, younger employees can be promoted, which will motivate them to work harder. Many young people feel frustrated because they cannot get a higher position for many years. Secondly, young people often have new ideas and are good at using new technology, so they can help the company to change and develop. Thirdly, there are many young people who cannot find a job, so if older people retire earlier, there will be more jobs for them.
On the other hand, I believe that forcing people to leave at 55 is not a good idea. Firstly, people at the age of 55 usually have a lot of experience and knowledge, which is very valuable for the company. For example, an experienced manager knows how to deal with difficult problems and customers, and young people can learn a lot from them. If they leave, the company will lose this knowledge. Secondly, people today live longer and stay healthy for longer, so many people at 55 can still work very well for many more years. Thirdly, many people need to keep working to earn money for their family and their retirement. It would be unfair to make them leave just because of their age.
In my opinion, companies should judge employees by their ability and performance, not by their age. Older and younger employees can work together and learn from each other.
In conclusion, I disagree that senior employees should be encouraged to leave at 55, because their experience is very valuable for companies.
