Some people believe that a person should never make an important decision alone. I partly agree with this statement. I think it is a good idea to ask other people for advice, but in the end, the person should make the final decision by himself or herself.
On the one hand, there are many advantages of asking other people before making an important decision. Firstly, other people may have more experience and knowledge. For example, when I chose my university major, I talked to my parents, my teachers and some older students. They told me about the advantages and disadvantages of different subjects and jobs, which helped me to make a better choice. Secondly, when we are emotional, we may not think clearly. Other people can help us to look at the situation in a calmer and more objective way. Thirdly, some decisions affect other people, such as our family. For example, if a person wants to move to another city for a new job, he or she should discuss it with their husband or wife and children.
On the other hand, I do not think that people should always depend on others. Firstly, sometimes other people give advice based on their own wishes, not on what is best for us. For example, some parents want their children to study medicine or law, even if their children are not interested in these subjects. Secondly, some decisions are very personal, such as choosing a partner or a career, so only the person can know what will make them happy. Thirdly, making decisions alone helps people to become more independent and responsible.
In my opinion, people should listen to advice from others, but they should make the final decision themselves.
In conclusion, I partly agree with the statement. Asking others for advice is useful, but each person should be responsible for their own important decisions.
