Some people believe that parents or other adult relatives should make important decisions for teenagers aged between 15 and 18. I disagree with this statement. I think parents should give advice to their teenage children, but teenagers should be allowed to make their own important decisions.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why parents should make decisions for teenagers. Firstly, parents have more life experience, so they can see problems that teenagers cannot see. For example, a teenager may want to leave school to earn money, but parents know that education is very important for the future. Secondly, teenagers sometimes make decisions based on their feelings or because of pressure from their friends, rather than thinking carefully. Thirdly, parents usually pay for their children's education and living costs, so they think they should have the right to decide.
On the other hand, I believe that teenagers should make their own important decisions. Firstly, teenagers aged 15 to 18 are almost adults, and they need to learn how to make decisions and take responsibility for them. If parents always decide for them, they will not be able to make good decisions when they grow up. Secondly, some decisions, such as choosing a university major or a career, affect the teenager's whole life, so they should choose what they are interested in. For example, my friend's parents made him study economics, but he was not interested in it and later changed to music, which he loved. Thirdly, when teenagers make their own decisions, they become more confident and motivated.
In my opinion, parents should talk with their teenage children, give them advice and help them to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each choice, but the final decision should be made by the teenagers.
In conclusion, I disagree that parents should make important decisions for their teenage children.
