Many important natural resources in the world, such as forests, animals and clean water, are disappearing. In my opinion, the most important resource that needs to be saved is forests. In this essay, I will explain why.

Firstly, forests are very important for the air we breathe. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. When forests are cut down, there is more carbon dioxide in the air, which causes global warming and climate change. For example, the Amazon rainforest is often called "the lungs of the Earth", but large areas of it are being destroyed every year for farming and logging.

Secondly, forests are home to many animals and plants. Scientists believe that more than half of the world's species live in forests. When forests are destroyed, many animals lose their homes and may become extinct. For example, in Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia, animals such as tigers, elephants and many types of birds are in danger because their forests are disappearing.

Thirdly, forests help to protect people from natural disasters. Tree roots hold the soil together and absorb rainwater, which helps to prevent floods and landslides. In some mountainous areas of Vietnam, where forests have been cut down, heavy rain has caused terrible floods and landslides that destroyed villages and killed many people.

Finally, millions of people depend on forests for food, medicine, wood and jobs. Many medicines that we use today come from forest plants.

To save forests, governments should make strict laws against illegal logging, and people should plant more trees and use less paper and wood products.

In conclusion, forests are disappearing quickly, and we need to save them because they give us clean air, protect animals, prevent natural disasters and support people's lives.

Many vital natural resources, including forests, wildlife and clean water, are disappearing at an alarming rate. Of these, I believe that forests are the most important to save, because they play a crucial role in regulating the climate, supporting biodiversity, protecting communities and sustaining human livelihoods.

The first reason forests must be protected is their role in combating climate change. Trees absorb large quantities of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in their wood and in the soil. When forests are cleared or burned, this carbon is released, contributing significantly to global warming. The ongoing destruction of the Amazon rainforest, much of it for cattle ranching and soybean cultivation, is particularly worrying, as scientists warn that parts of it may soon release more carbon than they absorb.

Secondly, forests are home to the majority of the world's land-based plant and animal species. Deforestation destroys habitats and is one of the main causes of species extinction. In Southeast Asia, for example, the clearing of tropical forests for palm oil plantations has pushed species such as orangutans and tigers to the edge of extinction.

Thirdly, forests protect people from natural disasters. Their roots stabilise soil and absorb rainfall, reducing the risk of floods and landslides. In the mountainous regions of central and northern Vietnam, deforestation has been linked to increasingly severe floods and landslides, which have destroyed homes and claimed many lives.
