Learning a foreign language helps people to understand how people from other cultures think and see the world. Some people believe that foreign language teaching should be compulsory in all primary schools. I agree with this view, although there are some difficulties that need to be solved.
Firstly, learning a foreign language helps children to understand other cultures. When children learn a language, they also learn about the songs, stories, festivals and customs of the people who speak it. For example, when Vietnamese children learn English, they also learn about Christmas, Halloween and other traditions. This helps them to become more open-minded and respect people who are different from them.
Secondly, primary school is the best time to start learning a language. Young children learn languages quickly and easily, and they can copy new sounds better than adults. If they start early, they can speak with better pronunciation and become more fluent. They also have more years to practise before they finish school.
Thirdly, foreign languages are very useful for the future. In today's world, many jobs require a foreign language, especially English. People who speak foreign languages can study abroad, work for international companies and travel more easily. If all primary schools teach foreign languages, every child will have this opportunity, not only children from rich families who can pay for private classes.
However, there are some problems. Some schools, especially in poor or rural areas, do not have enough qualified language teachers. Some people also worry that children may have too many subjects to study. Therefore, the government should train more teachers and make sure that language lessons are fun and not too difficult for young children.
In conclusion, I agree that foreign language teaching should be compulsory in all primary schools, because it helps children to understand other cultures and gives them more opportunities in the future.
