Many people say that the Earth is being filled with waste, such as plastic bags and other rubbish. In my opinion, this is really happening, and it is a serious problem. In this essay, I will explain why and suggest some solutions.
Firstly, it is clear that the amount of rubbish in the world is increasing. Every day, people throw away huge amounts of waste, such as plastic bags, bottles, food packaging and old electronic devices. Plastic is a big problem because it takes hundreds of years to break down. In many countries, landfills are full, and rubbish is often burned, which pollutes the air. A lot of plastic also ends up in rivers and oceans. For example, scientists have found huge areas of plastic rubbish floating in the Pacific Ocean, and many sea animals, such as turtles and fish, die because they eat plastic. In my country, Vietnam, many beaches and rivers are also polluted with plastic bags.
There are several solutions to this problem. Firstly, governments should ban or tax single-use plastic items, such as plastic bags, straws and cups. For example, many countries have banned free plastic bags in supermarkets, and the number of plastic bags used has fallen a lot. Secondly, people should recycle more. Governments should provide recycling bins and teach people how to separate their rubbish. Thirdly, companies should use less packaging and use materials that are easy to recycle or that break down naturally. Finally, individuals can help by using reusable bags, bottles and cups and by buying fewer unnecessary things.
In conclusion, the Earth is really being filled with waste, especially plastic. To solve this problem, governments, companies and individuals must work together to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
