Some people think that computers are more of a problem than a help, while others believe that computers have greatly increased what humans can do. In this essay, I will explain how computers can be considered a hindrance and give my opinion.

There are several ways in which computers can be a hindrance. Firstly, many people spend too much time on computers. They play games, watch videos or use social media for many hours, so they waste time and do not finish their work or study. Secondly, using computers too much is bad for people's health. Sitting in front of the screen for a long time can cause eye problems, back pain and weight gain, because people do not do enough exercise. Thirdly, computers can make people lose some skills. For example, many people cannot spell words correctly or do simple calculations because computers do these things for them. Moreover, when computers break down or are attacked by viruses, people cannot work, and important information may be lost.

On the other hand, computers have also helped humans a lot. They help people to work faster, find information quickly and communicate with people all over the world. In medicine, computers help doctors to find diseases and treat patients. In science, they help scientists to do difficult calculations and research.

In my opinion, computers are more of a help than a hindrance. The problems happen when people use computers in the wrong way or too much. If people use computers carefully and in a balanced way, they can benefit a lot from them.

In conclusion, computers can be a hindrance because they waste time, harm health and reduce some skills. However, I believe that they have greatly increased human potential when they are used wisely.

While computers are widely credited with expanding human capabilities, some people argue that they are more of a hindrance than a help. This essay will consider the ways in which computers can hinder people, before giving my own view.

One way in which computers can be a hindrance is by reducing productivity. Although they are designed to make work more efficient, they also provide constant distractions in the form of social media, emails, online videos and games. Many people find it difficult to concentrate for long periods, and time spent on non-essential activities can outweigh the time saved. In addition, technical problems such as software crashes, viruses and system failures can bring work to a complete halt, sometimes resulting in the loss of important data.

Another concern is that reliance on computers may weaken certain human skills. Spell checkers, calculators and navigation apps can reduce people's ability to spell, calculate mentally or read maps. Some critics also argue that the easy availability of information online discourages deep thinking and memorisation. Furthermore, prolonged computer use can have negative effects on health, including eye strain, poor posture and a sedentary lifestyle, while excessive screen time may reduce face-to-face social interaction.
