According to people who work in the travel industry, holidays are changing. Instead of relaxing in a faraway place, more people now want exciting holidays with unusual and challenging activities. I partly agree with this idea, because adventure holidays are becoming more popular, but many people still prefer relaxing holidays.

On the one hand, it is true that more people are looking for excitement on holiday. Nowadays, many young people want to try activities such as rock climbing, scuba diving, bungee jumping or trekking in the mountains. Social media is one reason for this change. People like to share photos and videos of their adventures online, so they choose holidays that look exciting. In addition, travelling has become cheaper and easier, so people can visit places that were difficult to reach in the past, such as jungles, deserts and mountains. Many people also want to learn new skills and have experiences that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

On the other hand, I think that many people still prefer relaxing holidays. Most people work very hard during the year and feel stressed and tired. For them, a holiday is a chance to rest, lie on the beach, read a book and spend time with their families. For example, beach resorts in Thailand, Spain and Vietnam are still very popular with tourists. In addition, older people and families with young children usually cannot do dangerous or difficult activities, so they choose quiet and comfortable holidays.

In my opinion, holidays are becoming more varied. Some people want adventure, while others want relaxation, and many people enjoy both on the same holiday.

In conclusion, I partly agree that people now want more exciting holidays, but relaxing holidays are still very popular, especially for families and older people.

Travel industry professionals claim that the nature of holidays is changing, with people increasingly preferring exciting and challenging activities to relaxing breaks in distant places. While I agree that adventure tourism has grown considerably, I do not believe that the desire for relaxation has disappeared.

There is clear evidence that adventure holidays have become more popular. Activities that were once considered extreme, such as white-water rafting, skydiving and trekking to remote mountain regions, are now offered by mainstream travel companies. Several factors explain this trend. Firstly, social media has encouraged people to seek unique experiences that can be photographed and shared, and an ordinary beach holiday may seem less impressive online. Secondly, cheaper flights and better infrastructure have made previously inaccessible destinations easier to reach. Thirdly, many people, particularly younger travellers, value personal growth and want holidays that challenge them and teach them new skills.

However, I would argue that relaxing holidays remain extremely popular. For many people who work long hours in stressful jobs, a holiday is primarily an opportunity to rest and recover. Beach resorts, spa hotels and cruises continue to attract millions of visitors every year, suggesting that demand for relaxation is as strong as ever. Moreover, families with young children and older travellers often prefer comfortable, low-risk holidays that are suitable for everyone.
