Nowadays, fewer students choose to study science subjects like physics, chemistry and biology at school and university. Instead, they prefer subjects related to computers. In this essay, I will explain the reasons for this and discuss whether it is a positive or negative development.

There are several reasons for this trend. Firstly, computer subjects such as information technology and programming can lead to good jobs with high salaries. Many big technology companies, such as Google or Facebook, need a lot of computer workers. Secondly, science subjects are often seen as very difficult, because students have to learn many formulas and do many experiments. Computer subjects seem more modern and interesting for young people, because they use computers and smartphones every day. Thirdly, it may take a long time to find a good job with a science degree, because many science jobs need a master's degree or PhD.

In my opinion, this is a negative development. Science is very important for society. For example, scientists help to find new medicines, solve environmental problems and create new energy sources. If fewer students study science, there will not be enough scientists, doctors and engineers in the future. In addition, computer technology itself is based on science, such as physics and mathematics, so we still need people with science knowledge.

To solve this problem, schools should make science lessons more interesting, and governments should give scholarships to students who study science.

In conclusion, students choose computer subjects because they offer better jobs and seem easier and more modern. However, I believe this is a negative trend, because science is very important for the future of society.

In recent years, a growing number of students have chosen computer-related subjects rather than traditional sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology. This essay will examine the reasons for this shift and argue that, although understandable, it is largely a negative development.

The main reason for this trend is the job market. The rapid growth of the technology sector has created high demand for programmers, data analysts and software engineers, and these roles often offer attractive salaries and good career prospects, even for graduates with a bachelor's degree. By contrast, careers in pure science frequently require years of postgraduate study and may offer lower starting salaries. In addition, many students perceive science subjects as abstract and difficult, whereas computing seems more practical and relevant to their everyday lives, which are dominated by digital technology. Some schools also lack well-equipped laboratories and specialist teachers, making science lessons less engaging.

In my view, this trend is worrying. Science underpins progress in many vital areas, from developing new medicines and vaccines to tackling climate change and creating sustainable energy. A shortage of scientists could therefore slow progress on some of the most urgent challenges facing humanity. Furthermore, computing itself depends on scientific foundations such as physics and mathematics, and many of the most exciting innovations, such as biotechnology and medical imaging, combine science with computing.
