The line graph shows the percentage of people in four age groups who went to the cinema in the UK from 1990 to 2010.
Overall, cinema attendance increased in all age groups over the period. Older people were more likely to go to the cinema than younger people, and the 44 to 54 age group had the highest percentage in every year.
In 1990, about 37% of people aged 44 to 54 went to the cinema, and the figure for people aged 34 to 44 was very similar at 36%. For people aged 24 to 34, it was 24%, and for the youngest group, aged 14 to 24, it was only 15%.
All four groups had a small increase in 1995, and then they all fell slightly in 2000. For example, the 24 to 34 group went up to 28% and then dropped to 23%. After 2000, the percentages increased in every group. In 2010, the 44 to 54 group reached about 51%, and the 34 to 44 group reached 44%. The 24 to 34 group was 33%, and the 14 to 24 group was the lowest at about 21%.
