The line chart shows the results of a survey about the reasons why people moved to the capital city of a country between 2000 and 2015. The four reasons are employment, study, family or friends, and adventure.
Overall, the number of people moving for all four reasons increased during the period. Employment was the most common reason for most of the time, but study grew very quickly and became equal to employment in 2015.
In 2000, about 61,000 people moved to the capital for employment. This number rose to 85,000 in 2005 and reached a peak of about 92,000 in 2010, before it fell slightly to 87,000 in 2015. The number of people who moved for study was 25,000 in 2000, and it increased to 47,000 in 2005 and 54,000 in 2010. Then it rose sharply to 87,000 in 2015.
The other two reasons was much less common. Family and friends started at about 12,000 and went up to 23,000 in 2015. Adventure increased slowly from 11,000 to 15,000 over the period.
